MM2 KIDS Innocent Survival Guide
Survive longer, grab coins smarter, and know when the dropped gun is worth the risk.
Most Murder Mystery 2 rounds cast you as Innocent — no gun, no knife, full responsibility for not feeding free kills. This guide helps kids last longer, farm coins for progression and Summer Shells, and make smart gun-pickup decisions. Start from How to Play, then learn how threats think in How to Win as Murderer and how allies should shoot in How to Win as Sheriff.
Innocent goals
- Survive until the Murderer is stopped or time pressure ends the threat.
- Collect coins for boxes, shop progress, and event quests.
- Support the Sheriff with honest info — not fake claims.
- Contest the gun only when the risk makes sense.
You are not useless without a weapon. You are the majority. Smart majorities win.
Coin routes without dying
Coins spawn across maps. Greedy zigzags through dark rooms are Murderer buffets. Better habits:
- Clear open coin lines first while many players are alive
- Avoid ultra-isolated basements when half the lobby is already dead
- Share space with groups early; isolate later only if the Sheriff is nearby
- During Summer Event, coin collection fuels Shell quests — still do not die for one coin under a pier
Coins matter. Your life matters more for the round; you can farm again next match.
Reading “sus” without becoming the fake Sheriff
Watch for players who:
- Trail behind you through empty hallways
- Never pick coins yet somehow always arrive at death scenes
- Force 1v1 pathing into dead ends
- Switch from friendly walking to sprint-stabs
Do not announce “THEY ARE MURDER” with zero proof. Say what you saw: “Red chased blue into storage.” Let the Sheriff confirm — that is their job.
Gun pickup decision tree
When the Sheriff dies:
Pick up if you are closest, the Murderer is not already on the drop, and you have a fair angle to retreat.
Leave it if the Murderer is clearly camping the drop and you would arrive knife-first with no space.
Body-block / distract if a braver teammate is closer and you can buy them seconds without dying instantly.
After you grab the gun, you are Sheriff rules now — confirm shots. Re-read How to Win as Sheriff the moment you hear that pickup sound.
Positioning for Innocents
Stay near escape routes, not decorative corners with one exit. On Pier and other seasonal maps, memorize two exits from every coin cluster. Stand where you can see doorways without being silhouetted in the most obvious spotlight.
If a friend wants to “hide together” in a closet, remember closets become traps when the Murderer finds one of you.
Social tips for kids
- Do not grief the Sheriff after a hard shot
- Do not steal credit for wins with rude chat
- Do not pressure trades mid-round — wait for lobby and use Trading Safely
- Do not follow strangers to “VIP code redeem” scams — codes use Inventory only (How to Redeem)
Progression while surviving
Innocent rounds are perfect for collection goals:
- Coin milestones toward boxes — How to Get Weapons
- Shell quest progress in summer — Summer Event
- Learning what drops are worth — Values Hub and Demand Explained
Survival skills and inventory skills grow together when you stay alive long enough to finish quests.
Mini drills
- Exit eyes: every time you enter a room, name two exits out loud.
- Coin calm: collect for thirty seconds, then rotate to a populated area.
- Drop discipline: in any Sheriff death, count to one before sprinting blindly at the gun.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What should Innocents do each round?
Survive, collect coins safely, share honest info, and only grab the Sheriff gun when the risk is reasonable.
Should I hide in a corner the whole round?
Usually no. Static hiding spots become traps. Keep escape routes and rotate thoughtfully.
When do I pick up the gun?
When you can reach it before the Murderer fully camps the drop and you have space to aim. If not, support a closer teammate.
Do coins matter for Summer Event 2026?
Yes. Coin collection progresses Shell quests. Read the Summer Event guide for Pier and box costs.
Can Innocents win without ever shooting?
Yes. If the Sheriff stops the Murderer — or another Innocent does after a pickup — survivors share the win.
