MM2 KIDS How to Trade in Murder Mystery 2
Unlock trading at level 10, use the official window, and learn fair swaps before chasing Godlies.
Trading is how Murder Mystery 2 collections grow after your first lucky box open. Nikilis locked the feature behind level 10 in December 2021 to slow scam bots and duping abuse — a rule that still protects kids today. This How to Trade page teaches the official mechanics step by step. Pair it with Trading Safely for scam defense and Values Hub for fair offers.
Requirements before your first trade
You need two things:
- Account level 10 or higher — trading unlocks automatically once you hit level 10. No hidden toggle in settings.
- At least one tradable item — the default starter knife and gun cannot be traded. Earn tradables through boxes, events, shop bundles, or earlier trades. See How to Get Weapons.
Fastest ways to reach level 10
XP comes from playing rounds normally:
- Surviving as Innocent
- Eliminating the Murderer as Sheriff
- Getting eliminations as Murderer
- Collecting coins during matches
Most active players reach level 10 within a few hours of fair play. Scripts and autofarm tools are not worth the ban risk — read Scripts safety.
Where trading happens
Trades happen only in the lobby, between rounds. You cannot open a trade window mid-match while roles are active. Plan trades after a round ends or while waiting in the summer lobby during Summer Event.
How to send a trade (PC and console-style)
- Join any Murder Mystery 2 server and wait in the lobby.
- Open the player list — commonly top-right on PC.
- Click the player name you want to trade with.
- Select Trade from the small menu (Profile / Trade).
- Wait for them to accept your request.
- When the trade window opens, click items from your inventory to add them to your side.
- Review what they add on their side.
- When both sides look correct, click Accept or Ready (wording can vary by update).
- Read the final confirmation screen showing every item one last time.
- Accept again only if nothing changed.
How to send a trade (mobile)
Mobile uses the same rules with slightly different buttons:
- Tap the + menu if you need the player list.
- Tap a player name → Trade.
- Add items from your inventory grid.
- Wait for the other player, then confirm when ready.
- Watch for a red notification dot on + when someone sends you a request.
Practice on low-value duplicates before offering a Summer 2026 Icecream chase piece.
How to accept an incoming trade
- Tap or click Accept on the trade notification.
- Review their offer before adding anything of your own.
- Add counter-items if you want a two-way swap.
- Slow down — scammers rush you on purpose.
- Confirm only when names and quantities match what you agreed in chat.
If anything feels wrong, Decline and walk away. Good traders respect a pause.
Trade window rules you must know
- Up to four unique item slots per side — you can stack multiples of the same item in some cases, but unique slots cap at four.
- Six-second wait after an item is added or removed before both players can finalize — use that pause to re-read names.
- Default knife and gun stay untradable forever.
- Effects, emotes, and radios are generally untradable — focus on weapons, pets, and misc tradables.
- Last-second swaps are a classic scam — the final confirmation screen is your safety net.
Checking if a trade is fair
MM2 has no official price list. Community value sites help, but demand matters as much as numbers:
- Open Godly Tier List and Demand Explained.
- Run both sides through the Trade Checker checklist.
- Ask: would I want each item tomorrow, or only because chat said it is rare?
- For Chromas, read Chroma Guide before accepting adds.
A slightly winning trade you understand beats a “huge win” that is actually a switched common knife.
PC vs mobile gotchas
- Tiny screens make similar knife names hard to read — zoom mentally on the final window.
- Touch mis-taps happen — never tap Accept while scrolling.
- Voice chat pressure is extra common on console — same rules as Trading Safely.
Healthy first trades for kids
Start with duplicate Legendary or low-tier Godly swaps. Learn the window rhythm without risking your only summer drop. Parents should sit in for the first ten trades and any Chroma conversation.
What not to do
- Trust trades — giving items outside the official window
- Split trades — “accept this small one, I will add Harvester next”
- Third-party sites that ask for your password
- Betting lobbies promising free Ancients
- Rushing because someone says they are leaving the server
All of those belong in Trading Safely, not in your inventory history.
After Summer Event 2026 trades
Limited items like Icecream, Beachy, and Sands spike in chat during August. Read Summer 2026 items before swapping event Godlies on the last weekend. Shells expire around August 23, 2026 — item hype can outlast the currency, but panic trades do not.
